Cockroaches are only there because a food source is there. You can spray 100 Litres of toxic chemical & they will still come back...if the food source is still there.

1] Be very clean. Ensure that all cupboards etc are totally clean from dust, food scraps & other debris.

2] Strip your bed & shake your sheets etc. Then, sweep the floor. Cockroaches love to feast on dead skin.

3] Cockroaches love to nest in warm places like refrigerator compressors & microwave ovens. Move your fridge from the wall & clean around the compressor (if it is accessible). Remove the covers from your microwave oven & ensure that cockroaches aren't there. If they are, clean & spray with "surface spray".

Essentially, there is no need to use any chemical if you clean everything properly.

Make sure before you move anything into your room, you spray with some sort of insecticide. Afterwords, keep all food covered and tightly sealed. You're less likely to have roaches if you minimize the food supply. Empty your garbage often, and don't leave things like pizza boxes and chip bags lying around.

If it is really bad you should report them to the housing authorities. The college should have to entire dorm sprayed at least once a month. Roaches are nasty and carry all kinds of disease. If every one else has them, even if you spray, they will return from another dorm.
When you go home, leave your things outside for 24 hours.

take a lg container of cinnamon along [ go to a club store{sam's/costo]
this is a deterrent sprinkle it along the baseboards. but they will still get in if they are not driven from the building and with a sewer that will not lastforever. when you go home put every thing in garbage bags to keep any hiding from getting out, seal bags tightly keep in garage when you open at home

Use an indoor bug spray that last for atleast 3 months. Not the bug spray for immediate use in the can, but the spray that is used along base boards and such. Spray around the edges of the room and under any furnature. Also use borax.

There are some companies that make little plastic boxes that contain roach poison, but it gives off a scent that roaches think means food. The roaches pick up a sample of the poison and bring it back to their colony, where they share it, killing them all.

I have these in my garage and they work perfectly. Find a pack of those and put them on your floor.

How did you all get roaches? Im serious.... I stayed on campus at three different colleges and never had roaches at all.... but try to not eat in your room and have friends to shake clothes before coming in your room because they may be bringing them in... and keep room clean as much as possible
